Drink your vegetables


If only we had a juicer growing up. I think it would saved me from spending a lot of nights staring at the cold pile of vegetables on my dinner plate. It would have been much easier to hold my breath and swallow a few mouthfuls of juice than it would be to chew a mouthful of those peas I hated so much.

No dinner tonight as I didn’t feel like cooking or eating after a 90-minute Bikram Yoga session. So I made myself a juice.

This one was packed with fruits, veggies and flavour.

Here’s what was in it:

1/2 Pineapple

I navel orange

1 large handful of spinach

Small bunch of kale

3 carrots

1 large beet

While most juices with beet I have made so far taste very earthy, the earthiness of this one was mild. The pineapple and orange balanced any bitterness from the greens.

Photographing juice is not easy. Hopefully the next juice recipe I share will have nicer photos.
